Intex Vision – A New Mobile Phone for the Visually Impaired

Intex Technologies has announced the launch of a mobile phone known as Intex Vision that has been particularly designed for the visually impaired. This phone was unveiled by National Association for the Blind, a non-government, voluntary organization in India.

This dual SIM (GSM + GSM) phone has a simple user interface and several entertainment and utility features such as expandable memory up to 2 GB, mobile tracker, audio player, torch light, wireless FM radio, a single key for locking the keypad, auto call record, as well as a phone and SMS memory of 1,000 contacts and 250 messages respectively. Moreover, the SOS feature of the phone allows users to save four emergency numbers.

Also, Intex Vision has a large Braille keypad for facilitating recognition of digits and those who are not acquainted with Braille can use the 'Talking Keypad' feature which will say the number that they have pressed in English. However, the only drawback is that it supports only English. But according to an Intex spokesperson, more language support, including Hindi, will be introduced.

This phone costs only Rs. 2,600 (street price).
